Tyler’s spectacular senior soccer debut
Senior Tyler Flederbach played soccer for the first time in Fall 2020 as goalie,
though he has played tennis for three years, most recently at number two singles.
He has received varsity letters in each sport from Milton Area School District, and he has been selected as a Max Preps player of the game by his soccer coaches. He was also named PHAC All-star goalkeeper of the season by all the coaches in the conference.
Tyler said that his greatest challenge has been learning to play soccer this season because it was his first year.
“I was hanging out with a couple of friends of mine who played soccer and they told me that I should play, so I decided to join the team,” Tyler said.
Tyler said one thing he does to prepare, before every game he always does sprints to get warmed up and to get adrenaline pumping.
Tyler said his favorite memory was celebrating a 2-1 comeback victory over Jersey Shore last soccer season on senior day. “It’s my favorite memory because we were the underdogs in that game and who doesn’t love an underdog comeback?” he added.
“My biggest influence would be my parents because I’ve always looked up to them and they’ve always pushed me to be my best me,” said Tyler.
“My advice for future athletes would be to never be afraid to do or try anything. It doesn’t matter how new to something you are, if you work hard you can do great things,” Tyler said.
Tyler’s future plans are to attend a four-year college to get a degree in mechanical engineering and hopefully play soccer, he added.
Senior Pierce Edinger was one of Tyler’s soccer teammates. “Tyler is an amazing competitor who will do his absolute best to help the team. His constant fearless energy ran through the team, and we all rallied with him. We knew on and off the field, he had our backs,” Pierce said.
