ID badges offer safety, convenience

On Nov. 14 all Milton High School students received an ID badge.

The decision to give all students ID badges was a “collective decision made amongst the high school administration” said Co-Principal Mr. Andrew Rantz.

“They are needed because students can be identified by staff or teachers if needed and make purchases from the cafeteria easier and much safer, he said.

Mr. Rantz added that students are required to wear ID badges at all times during school hours. According to Yearbook Co-Advisor Ms. Jamie Emery-Seibert, any student that was absent or virtual that day received theirs upon their return to school.

Students will use this to scan their lunch accounts when purchasing food/drink in the cafeteria,” said Mr. Rantz.

Students must ask the high school secretaries for a new ID badge if the original one is lost, and a new one will be printed for them,” said Mr. Rantz.

Since wearing an ID badge is mandatory, there will be repercussions if a student isn’t wearing one, said Mr. Rantz.

Last year, the middle school students had lanyards, but students at the high school did not. Mr. Rantz explained that there was no real reason behind that. We were just a year behind in the process, he explained.
