Larissa looks back on high school career

Senior Larissa Shearer is a member of Milton’s field hockey, softball, and basketball teams. Larissa said she has played softball and basketball her whole life and started playing field hockey in seventh grade. 

Larissa said she started playing field hockey because she wanted to try something newShe started playing softball and basketball in kindergartenShe said she played softball and basketball because of her parents. 

 Field Hockey Assistant Coach Brandee Krall said she coached Larissa for two seasons. “She is a dedicated team player. She is always looking for ways to improve and puts in the work necessary,” she said, adding that she improved consistently. 

I would say that she constantly worked on improving her skills as a goalie and stepped into her role as team captain and team leader when its needed, said Coach Krall. 

Larissa won the Honorable Mention for field hockey in 2020. She received First Team PHAAll Star Team this year for field hockey, First Team this year for field hockey and she also completed 1000 saved goals in field hockey. 

Larissa said her favorite sports memory was having “jam sessions” on the bus.   

“My biggest challenge to overcome was tearing my ACL and meniscus, she said. What motivated her the most during the pandemic was “looking forward to graduating, she said. 

Larissa will be attending Bloomsburg University and will major in Biology Pre-Medicine.  She said she does not want to play sports in collegebut will be doing club sports. Her advice for future athletes is“if you love playing the sport, you should push yourself.”
