Fall sports finish successful season

Milton Area High School has finished another year of fall sports, with several teams and athletes competing in the post season.

Milton’s Football team finished its regular season with a record of 6-4. Their playoff bid ended with a loss in the District semifinal game against Montoursville on Nov. 12, with a score of 17-14.

“It was a great feeling to make the playoffs for the first time since 2012,” said Milton Football Coach Mr. Philip Davis. Coach Davis added that he is really proud of the players and all they accomplished this year.

Freshman Running Back Christopher Doyle reached 1,000 rushing yards this season, according to Milton Area School District Athletic Director Mr. Rod Harris. “This is a huge milestone, and it doesn’t happen often, so this is big for Doyle,” he said.

Milton’s Boys Soccer team finished its regular season with a record of 16-3-1, losing in the District semifinals against Midd-West with a score of 5-1. Milton’s Girl Soccer team finished the regular season with a record of 15-4-1 also lost in the District semifinals against Montoursville with a score of 2-1.

Senior Janae Bergey and Senior Carter Lilley both scored over 50 career goals in soccer, added Mr. Harris.

The Milton Boys Cross Country team went 13-5 in the regular season and placed fourth in Districts. Milton’s Girls Cross Country team went 11-7 and placed sixth in Districts.

Sophomore Ryan Bickhart qualified and placed 66th overall among 236 male runners at States.

The Girls Tennis team finished its season with a record of 3-14. Milton’s Golf team finished with a record of 2-5. Juniors Cade Wirnsberger and Isaiah Day both competed at Districts, with Cade also qualifying for States. The Field Hockey team finished its season with a record of 0-18.
