Hunters enjoy outdoors

Many hunters enjoy the calm of the outdoors and the rush of the adrenaline that they get when they spot their prey.

Sophomore Gary Verdinelli is a hunter who loves the outdoors. He said he loves to hunt white tailed deer. Gary added he hunts with a 270 Remington, which is his favorite gun to use when hunting deer.

Gary said he has been hunting for five years. He said he has killed four doe, and he is still on the hunt to kill a buck. He added that he loves the relaxation and watching all the wildlife in front of him and the cold weather because that is when he sees all the action and when he has had success.

He hunts with his football teammate Senior Farrel Sipe. Gary added that his favorite memory is when he shot his two doe in memory of his aunt when she passed away.

According to Gary, the funniest thing that happened to him was when he was tracking his doe, and he fell in the creek and got wet.

He said he has been hunting since he was 11-years-old and he loves to hunt white tails. The biggest deer he killed was a 167-pound doe. He said that he is going to make jerky and bologna with both deer he killed this year.

Another hunter is Co-Principal Mr. Michael Bergey. He said he hunts white tailed deer specifically buck. He added that he hunts with a crossbow for archery and a 7mm mag for rifle.

Mr. Bergey said he has been hunting since he was 12-years-old. He said over the years he has killed a half dozen bucks. What he loves about hunting is the peace and quiet. He said that he has hunted with his dad, his brother and his sister.

Mr. Bergey said his favorite memory hunting is when he got to go out with his dad, brother and sister. The biggest buck he killed was a seven point with a 12-inch spread. He added his dad taught him everything about hunting.
