Fall play is killer
Milton’s 2022 fall play is the fantasy drama She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen.
According to Director Mr. Stephen Aguirre, who is also the High School’s ESL Aide/Spanish Translator and Drama Club Advisor, the play revolves around two sisters, Tilly and Agnes.
One of the sisters dies in a car accident and the survivor finds the dead sister’s diary, which is also her Dungeons and Dragons master book, said Mr. Aguirre.
The play is set in 1995 America, said Mr. Aguirre. Tilly will be played by Junior Mia Sera, and Agnes will be played by Senior Chloe Russell.
“My favorite part of the play is that it’s a deep plot, but is conveyed through comedy and funny moments,” said Senior Chloe Russell.
“For the first time in a long time, we’re going to have lots of stage combat with axes and swords,” said Mr. Aguirre. For instance, there will be a lot of fight choreography to tie in with the theme of Dungeons and Dragons, he added.
“There was a whole rehearsal dedicated to learning how to fight each other with swords,” added Chloe.
This is the first time that this play is being produced locally at the high school level, added Mr. Aguirre.
Opening night for the play will be Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. The play will have two other performances on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale at showtix4u.com for $10.
The spring musical is Chicago (teen edition), with auditions scheduled the week of Nov. 14. Chicago follows the story of Roxie Hart and her trial and whether or not she will be found guilty of her accusation. Another character Velma will have an overlapping storyline with Roxie while she is in jail, added Mr. Aguirre.
