Fall seasons end with success

According to Milton Athletic Director Mr. Rod Harris, the fall sports teams had a fantastic season. With the opening of the new stadium, almost all of the sports had the chance to play under the lights, he added.

Girls and boys soccer teams, football team, girls and boys cross-country and the golf team made it to post-season.

“It was a very successful fall season once again,” added Mr. Harris.

Girls soccer finished with a 13-7 record and lost in the District Quarterfinals in double overtime in penalty kicks against Montoursville on Oct. 26. The boys soccer team finished with a 12-7 record and fell to Warrior Run in the District Quarterfinals on Oct. 29.

The football team finished the season with a 9-2 record, losing in the District AAAA Semifinals against Selinsgrove on Nov. 4.

Boys cross-country wrapped up the season with a 13-5 record and placed sixth in the District playoffs. Girls cross-country finished the season with a 11-8 record and placed eighth in the District playoffs.

The golf team qualified for Districts with a season record of 4-4. Girls tennis finished the season with a 4-14 record. The field hockey team’s season ended with a record of 1-17.

This year fall sports had a chance to play on the district’s new turf field for the first time ever. “The turf field and new facility was a very nice addition for all of our teams for practices and games,” said Mr. Harris.

“Overall the fall season had an amazing outcome. With most of the teams qualifying for Districts and having amazing records, they were able to finish this fall season strongly,” he added.

An individual highlight included Junior Ryan Bickhart competing at States with cross-country on Nov. 5. During this race, he placed 64 with a running time of 18:02.

“Ifelt like I didn’t perform the best, and I should have done a lot better,” said Ryan. He added that going to States is a great way to get experience.

He hopes to make it to States again next year after being able to make it this year.

I feel like both (cross-country) teams did very well, but both teams have some work to do if we are going to be contenders next year,” said Ryan.
