This year Milton High School welcomed a new Special Education Learning Support Teacher, Ms. Alicia Laubscher.
Ms. Laubscher is a Milton graduate and attended Penn College of Technology for early childhood education. She said she returned to Bloomsburg University 12 years to earn an education degree.
She has spent 15 years in the education field doing many different jobs including working as a preschool teacher, nanny, substitute and therapeutic support staff. When Ms. Laubscher was younger, she said she worked at Knoebels.
Ms. Laubscher said that she became a special education/ learning support teacher because she loves teaching and connecting to students. “(Ms. Laubscher) has very positive energy and is willing and excited to help all students.” said Special Education Learning Support Teacher Ms. Allison Pauling.
“(Mrs. Laubscher) has a lot of experience working with students at different ages and in different capacities, and she is able to use that experience to build relationships and work with students here at Milton,” added Ms. Pauling.
Outside of school, Ms. Laubscher said that she likes to run. She has three kids with her high school sweetheart; she added that her daughters are in seventh grade, third grade and kindergarten.
She said her favorite memories from teaching are any and every kind of celebration, gym class, and when she raced in inflatables.
What annoys Mrs. Laubscher about teaching is “when students are disrespectful,” and don’t follow boundaries, she said.
Mr. Laubscher said she loves working at Milton High School. She added he has “so much fun” working here and she loves the staff. She also said that the administration is “awesome” and “supportive.”
