Stadium causes parking spot shuffle
Around 10 Milton Area High School students and teachers lost their parking spots due to the stadium construction. Those cars were moved to the Milton Area Middle School parking lot.
“The construction is requiring that we not utilize certain spaces and areas due to needing that space for equipment, frequently accessed by construction traffic, hauling, demolition, etc.” said Co-Principal Mr. Andrew Rantz.
Guidance Office Secretary Ms. Monica Johnson said she estimates the number of lost spaces could potentially double as the project continues.
Ms. Johnson said that there are 95 student parking spaces.
Ms. Johnson said any student that has a driver’s license is eligible to apply for a parking permit. The application, including insurance information and make and model of the car, must be completed by parents. She added that if any information changes occur during the year students are to come and update their form. She said that all teachers have designated parking spaces.
“It makes it difficult when someone that is not registered parks in someone else’s assigned spot. It then messes up the whole assigned parking spaces,” said Ms. Johnson.
Mr. Rantz said the penalty for parking in the wrong spot could be losing parking privileges and/or receiving a parking violation.
Ms. Johnson said that flex students could give up their parking passes, but will not be required to. She added that their parking pass would be redistributed on a first come, first serve basis.
