Pupils pick preferred platforms
The Panther Press asked Milton Area High School students their opinions on the best and worst social media platforms including Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok, Pinterest and Twitter.
A poll was emailed to all students asking to them to rank the platforms. Overall, 36 of the 88 students who responded said Tiktok was the best social media, and 27 students ranked Snapchat as the second best.
Tiktok came out 2016 and Snapchat began on July 8, 2011.
“…Data published in the company’s self-service advertising tools show that marketers could reach 884.9 million users aged 18 and above on TikTok in January 2022,” according to dataportal.com. “Advertisers could reach 557.1 million users on Snapchat in January 2022.”
Many students described as Tiktok “addicting,” including Sophomore Zoe Letteer, Junior Alaura Foust and Junior Brooklyn Wade.
Sophomore Trey Locke said he enjoys “the endless amount of funny videos or whatever kind of video you want, pretty much.”
Then comes in the worst social media. Twenty eight students voted that Twitter was the worst social platform.
Twitter which has 206 million users came out in 2006.
Many students have said they have never used it, including Alaura, Senior Katlyn Weaver and Sophomore Christopher Mull.
“I just never felt the need to use it because I use Insta and Snap,” said Alaura.
