Trace tackles three sports at a time
Senior Trace Witter has been involved in sports for most of his life.
According to Trace, he has been playing soccer since he was four, football since seventh grade and began playing tennis during his freshmen year.
Trace said that his parents motivated him to get into sports when he was young.
“I would definitely consider them [my parents] a big motivation for me,” said Trace.
Trace added that being in sports helped his self-esteem and confidence. He said that he doesn’t have a favorite sport but loves certain aspects of all of them.
“I love tennis and soccer for the games and the brotherhood of football,” said Trace.
Trace added that his favorite memory is when his football team won against Shikellamy during his junior year. He said that the memory of the win made him feel happy.
According to Trace, his least favorite thing about sports is running. Trace added that a challenge he faced as a fifth grader was when his former soccer coach said that he wasn’t good enough.
“He said that I was too small and that I wouldn’t improve or get better at sports,” Trace said. “It made me feel bad about myself.”
Trace said that his biggest motivator has been Boys Soccer Coach Mr. Brett Ballo. He added that Coach Ballo pushes him past his limits and encourages him to be the best that he can be.
According to Athletic Director Mr. Rod Harris, Trace is a solid student who works hard in the classroom and on the field.
“My favorite memory would be just watching him kick all the extra points in football games,” said Coach Harris.
Trace said that when he isn’t doing sports, he is outside hiking, fishing and hunting. He added that the outdoors are a great stress reliever for him.
Trace said he doesn’t intend to continue organized sports in college; however, he plans to attend Pennsylvania College of Technology to major in nursing.
